Gaudenzia, Inc. Transitional Living Program

Gaudenzia, Inc., a for-profit group offers 23 housing units for female-headed households in the Mt. Airy and Germantown areas of Philadelphia through the Transitional Living Program. Gaudenzia caters to residents who are recovering from addictions and are referred by the Office of Supportive Housing.

Two counselors work with residents and help design a program that suits their particular needs. Since the focus of Gaudenzia is on people moving on from addictions, one of the services at the Transitional Living Program is a series of Addiction Education Seminars. These classes teach residents how to avoid falling back into an addictive lifestyle and maintain stability.

Other services include group and individual counseling, education help (for basic skills and GED), vocational training, and help finding a job. Off-site hospitals and universities provide medical and mental health services. Gaudenzia has helped people overcome addiction for many years and has partnerships with many local organizations that can help residents with any other problems that may arise.
